The Devil Tried to Extinguish the Word

Rosary Meditation Today… John Chapter 1 and the Cruxifiction

Let us not forget the Final Epistle and how it relates to the Sorrowful Mysteries of today’s Rosary!

We know from John Chapter 1: (https://drbo.org/chapter/50001.htm)

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God….

14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we saw his glory, the glory as it were of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

On Good Friday evil, the Devil himself, thought he won. He convinced man to do the unthinkable. Not just kill the Son of God, but to do so in the most horrifying and demeaning manor possible.

The capstone of the Devil’s plan was to extinguish the Word. An what was the crucifixion? It was an effixiation. A suffocation. A silencing of the body and voice of our Lord and God on earth.

In the end it was this which terrified the Apostles and disciples. They believed and had faith before Christ spoke to them, but for most of them they lost sight of the need for faith in the mystical God. We humans are like this. We lose a voice in our lives, and many times we just lose our way.

Thankfully we know the Word was not silenced. John himself wrote the Words of God for us to read and believe. The challenge however still remains...can we keep our faith in Christ when he appears to not be with us? When there is silence or the world’s noise drowns him out, how will we come back and listen and follow the word of God?

Just something to meditate on today...in our Sorrowful Mysteries.
